Rob Lilleness
Rob LillenessPresident & Chief Executive Officer

A seasoned executive, Rob has built multiple successful high-tech businesses in digital media, mobile, software and consumer products. He joined Medio from Universal Electronics (NASDAQ: UEIC) and during his time as President and COO, the company reversed declining sales, fortified its technology, quadrupled its patent portfolio and developed an array of new products. As a result, revenue grew rapidly, earnings more than tripled, and the market capitalization grew from ~$100 million to ~$500 million.

Rob was also on the initial team that built the Windows Networking business at Microsoft where he served in a number of management roles. He was responsible for shipping multiple versions of Windows NT Server and building the Windows networking business from zero to over $500 million in sales.

Rob also holds seven patents in the digital media and wireless control space. He speaks German, Spanish, and English. Rob holds a B.A. from the University of Puget Sound and a MBA from Harvard Business School.

Brian Lent
Brian LentChairman & Chief Technology Officer

Brian brings more than two decades of technology, entrepreneurial and product leadership to Medio. He co-founded Medio in 2004 from his role as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Mohr Davidow Ventures. Prior to the creation of Medio, Lent was the founding CEO of Intelligent Results, a leading business analytics enterprise software company later acquired by First Data Corporation. Brian also held the position of Director of Information Technology at Amazon.com. Before joining Amazon, Brian served as Principal and Director of Applications at Junglee Corporation, the first company to launch a shopping comparison search and recommendations engine, which was acquired by Amazon in 1998.

Brian studied in the Ph.D. program at Stanford University, where he co-founded MIDAS (Mining Data at Stanford), the same lab that incubated the Google crawler and search engine. Brian holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Nevada, Reno and a Masters and Ph.D. Candidacy in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Ryan Sousa
Ryan SousaSenior Vice President of Engineering

As the Senior Vice President of Engineering at Medio, Ryan is responsible for the company’s technology stack and the delivery of Medio’s 4th generation predictive analytics platform.

With over 25 years of experience delivering innovative technology solutions that have enabled companies to better understand their customers and personalize their experience, Ryan has transformed the landscape at companies such as Amazon, Expedia, Starbucks and MCI Communications. During his four years at Expedia, the world’s largest online travel company, Ryan was Vice President of Global Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Technology. He led the creation of a global, cross-brand platform that now analyzes more than a petabyte of data that helps personalize and improve the overall user experience of Expedia.

Ryan is also a successful industry leader, speaker and author, and was SVP of Engineering for a successful customer analytics startup that was acquired by Amazon.

Ryan has a degree in Computer Science from Westland College.

Michael McMillan
Michael McMillanVice President of IT

Michael is a seasoned technology executive who leads the teams that drive the technology behind Medio’s cloud-based, real-time predictive analytics. This technology is utilized to acquire, retain, and monetize customers across a wide array of interconnected devices. Michael acts as a focal point for all technology and infrastructure at Medio.

Before coming to Medio, Michael held several management positions at Symantec, where he drove business value during a massive overhaul of the Global Information Services organization. He also led technical consumer and enterprise product teams as well as the first engineering team that bridged the Veritas acquisition in 2005.

Furthermore, Michael led all technical operations for Briefing.com, a provider of independent, live market analyses of U.S. and international equity markets.

Michael has a degree in Computer Science from Oregon State University.

 

John Maffei
John MaffeiGeneral Manager, K-Invite

With almost 20 years of executive experience leading Internet, mobile, and gaming companies, John is now the General Manager of K-Invite, Medio’s platform for acquiring high quality mobile users.  John is in charge of the development and operations of a new business unit focused on intelligent mobile customer acquisition and his responsibilities include product definition and full P&L ownership.

Prior to joining Medio, John ran multiple companies with successful exits including ServiceMesh (purchased by CSC for $300M) and the ZAM Network (a top 100 most trafficked website, purchased by TenCent).

Preceding his time with the ZAM Network, John was responsible for Microsoft’s licensing efforts of Xbox 360 video content from major entertainment companies including Warner, Disney, Fox, and NBC Universal.

John holds an MBA from the University of Washington and a Bachelor’s from Colgate University where he was magna cum laude. John is also a council person for the city of Medina, WA.

 

Beau Ross
Beau RossSenior Director of Marketing

Sitting squarely at the intersection of product and marketing, Beau brings over 10 years of product delivery and digital marketing expertise to Medio. Beau is a creative-minded product marketer with a passion for driving measurable results and creating products that consumers can’t live without.  As the Senior Director of Marketing at Medio, Beau leads the ideation,   development and implementation of the company’s go-to-market strategies.

Before joining the Medio team, Beau was Director of Marketing at Z2Live, the premiere mobile gaming company behind mobile gaming hits Battle Nations, MetalStorm and Trade Nations. Prior to Z2Live, he also held senior leadership role at Screenlife Games (a division of Paramount Digital Entertainment) and Big Fish Games.

Beau has a Bachelor’s in Public Relations, Advertising, and Marketing Communication from Central Washington University.

 

Phil Darringer
Phil DarringerSenior Director of Product Management

As the Senior Director of Product Management for Medio, Phil defines and delivers Medio’s latest generation of predictive analytics products used by some of the world’s largest brands. He brings a wealth of experience in big data, mobile authentication, and mobile security.

Before arriving at Medio, Phil was Principal Product Manager for RSA, the Security Division of EMC. At RSA, he was responsible for defining product strategy and creating solutions for mobile strong authentication and mobile fraud prevention. Prior to his role at RSA, Phil held various positions including mobile software engineering, business development, and product management for Oracle. Living in Munich, Germany at the time, Phil was able to drive Oracle’s mobile activities in Germany, and all throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Phil holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University

 

Neal Oman
Neal OmanDirector of Data Science

Neal has over 20 years of business software engineering, advanced predictive analysis, and analytic systems development/consulting experience. As Medio’s Director of Data Science, Neal and his team work on constructing predictive models using machine-learning techniques and systematizing their use for personalizing mobile app content selection and recommendation.

Prior to joining Medio Neal was Vice President of Client Services and Engineering at Finsphere Corporation and he held various technical executive roles at Intelligent Results and Onyx Software Corporation.

Neal holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Utah State University and a Master’s in both Applied Mathematics and Aeronautics/Astronautics from the University of Washington.

 

Jennifer Deonigi
Jennifer DeonigiDirector of Human Resources

With over 20 years of experience Jennifer is a seasoned entrepreneur and business builder.  Jennifer plays a critical role in the sustainability and longevity of the Medio’s core values and beliefs, shepherding the company’s operations, talent and culture.

Prior to joining Medio’s team, Jennifer held numerous HR and accounting roles at a number of successful companies and startups such as Universal Electronics and RocketPipe.

Before she entered the tech world, Jennifer co-founded the hugely successful outdoor brand, KAVU. After growing KAVU into a wildly successful outdoor retailer, she quickly transitioned into new roles within the organization to establish and lead the HR, accounting, and operations.
